Elgin Cross Roads Primitive Baptist Church
   Home      About Us

Elgin Cross Roads is a Primitive Baptist Church that desires to serve God in the manner set forth in the Scriptures.  We take as our guide the Scriptures as our only authority in all matters of faith and practice - 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

We know that we are not perfect but we desire to press towards that as our goal - Philippians 3:12-14 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Our worship has the goal of glorifying God, equipping us to meet the onslaughts of Satan and troubles of this life, in a way that will both glorify God and give us strength and comfort as we learn from the word of God, making us wise unto salvation - 1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.  Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.  2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

We believe that our service to God involves but goes beyond our assembling together as a church.  It involves not only serving God but others as we have the opportunity.  We believe that we serve our God as we serve others - Matthew 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.  This involves doing good not only to those of our faith but to every one we come in contact with.  Galatians 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

In our service there is a strong emphasis placed on the grace of God; God's grace that saved us from hell and God's grace in our every day lives to help us to serve Him and to give us help in time of need - 2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,  Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Come worship with us in the simplicity of the pattern set forth in the Scriptures, as we rejoice in our Savior, receiving the joy and peace that comes to us in believing and obeying our Savior - Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.   Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.  2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
